Building Future Talent: How DIIGS supports Total Marine Technology

Connecting Industry Leaders with Next-Generation Talent

At Programmed Training Services, we connect industry leaders with the next generation of professionals through our Defence Industry Internship and Graduate Scholarship (DIIGS) Program.

Our collaboration with Total Marine Technology (TMT) highlights the value of bringing in fresh perspectives to enhance the workforce.

One such success story is Kimberly Tay, a Psychology and Marketing student at the University of Western Australia, who joined TMT through DIIGS. Keen to apply her skills in a real-life setting, Kimberly spent 10-weeks contributing to content development for TMT’s new website and reformatting technical data sheets.

“The processes behind marketing efforts for companies is definitely something that is overlooked when studying marketing. Seeing the amount of time and collaboration needed was a valuable lesson,”

While many defence businesses focus on technical roles for interns, TMT recognised the value of diverse skill sets.

Vesa Sapina, Senior Advisor for People and Culture at TMT, shared with us: “Kimberly’s background in Psychology, Marketing, and HR was a great fit—even in an engineering-focused company. Expanding our perspective paid off, and I’d be open to more diverse interns.”

DIIGS not only benefits businesses by bringing in fresh ideas, but it also equips students with industry experience. Kimberly credits Programmed’s seamless support throughout her internship:

“Programmed made the process easy and clear, offering guidance every step of the way.”
